Series of Print ads for The North Face's Steep Series.
The North Face wanted to show the power and drama of their Steep Series line without getting in the way of what The North Face does best, imagery. In the end, the best solution was the minimal one, let the images do almost all the work.
These print ads were followed up with dynamic web ads as well.

Aspen Snowmass already had a winning concept with their Mind Body Spirit campaign created by Factory Design Labs.
The ask for this year was to continue the campaign but evolve it to a new level, both visually and textually. The scope of work included print ads, video series, web media and social.

This project was to brainstorm new ideas and looks for a new line of skis. The design was picked up by client and overall look was used and evolved in European markets.
A sort of"wow me with design" type of project.
FREELANCE-PLANNED PARENTHOOD ANNUAL REPORT
Planned Parenthood wanted an annual report that wasn't just numbers and stock photography, something that really showed who the were. I commissioned Andrew Bydlon for his great portrait photography to show exactly that. The design was kept smart and simple, as to not get in the way of the images.
A special issue which dedicates the entire feature well to 1 subject. Within that, there is a collaboration of stories varying from the narrative, to service and destination type pieces.
Multi page feature story
Front of book redesign of the magazine. Took the whole front of book section and made it into 1 big list of things that needed to be done that month. Gave the ability to have a wide variety of types of stories and pull them all together through design.
This section was later nominated for an NMA award.
A special issue of Backpacker magazine that dedicated the entire issue to 100 best trips/skills/things.
"The Complete Guide To Fire" is a National Magazine Award winning feature. Combining facts, stories, how to's and many other different elements into one cohesive, entertaining feature.
Dedicating the entire feature well to backpacking through different parts ofthe world.
fun fact: all climbers were personally oiled by Julie Ellison (editor of climbing magazine) and myself, those were the days.
The annual FOOD guide was given the entire feature well to live and breathe. The stories were a wide variety of restaurant reviews, how to's, personal stories, food porn and so much more.
